Esnafım privacy notice and terms of use
This is an English translation for convenience. The Turkish version is the binding text.
Privacy notice (KVKK)
Under Article 10 of Turkey’s Personal Data Protection Law No. 6698 (KVKK), this notice explains which personal data is processed when you use the Esnafım mobile app, why, and how.

What we process
- As a guest: a random user ID the app gives you, the shops and topics you follow, your distance and favourite-topic preferences, your device’s push token so we can send notifications, a record of the notifications sent to you (7 days), and any reports you file.
- If you sign in with Google: the name, email address and profile photo Google shares.
- If you add a business: its name, category, address, map location, opening hours, topics, busyness, your posts and photos. These are public in the app; that you own the business is not shown to anyone. Posts are deleted automatically after 24 hours.
- If you send messages: the messages and photos you exchange with a shop, your Google name (the shop sees you by it), when messages were read, and your daily message count. Only you and that shop’s owner can see the messages.
- Location: if you allow it, your location is used on your device to find nearby shops and distances. Only the code of an area of about 40 × 20 km is sent to the server as a query; your location is not stored.
- Technical data: a crash report when the app crashes (device model, operating system and app version) and a device integrity check that confirms requests come from the genuine app.
- Usage statistics (only with your permission): which features are used (for example a post was made, a notification opened, Directions tapped), an app-specific device ID, device model, operating system and an approximate city derived from IP. Your name and the content of your messages and posts are never included; no advertising ID is collected. You can withdraw permission at any time under Profil → Kullanım İstatistikleri.
Why, and on what legal basis
- Notifying you of posts from shops you follow and of messages, delivering your messages, managing your account and business: performance of a contract (KVKK Art. 5/2-c).
- Preventing abuse and fake businesses, reviewing reports, keeping the app secure and working: legitimate interest (KVKK Art. 5/2-f).
- Seeing how the app is used in order to improve it: your explicit consent (KVKK Art. 5/1). Without it no statistics are collected and every feature still works.
Your data is never used for advertising and never sold.
Who receives it
The app runs on Google’s Firebase and Google Cloud services (authentication, database, file storage, notifications, crash reporting and, with your permission, Google Analytics). The database and files are stored on servers in Frankfurt, Germany; authentication and notifications use Google’s global infrastructure; usage statistics are kept in Google Analytics on Google’s global infrastructure. These transfers are made in line with Article 9 of the KVKK. Unless the law requires it, your data is shared with no one else.
How long we keep it
Your data is kept while your account exists. When you delete your account, your account, follows, business and posts, messages and photos are deleted. When a business is deleted, the messages sent to it are deleted too. A guest account becomes unusable once the app is uninstalled. Posts delete themselves after 24 hours and notification records after 7 days. Database backups are kept for at most 14 days, after which deleted data is gone from them too. Crash reports are kept for at most 90 days and usage statistics for at most 14 months. Details: Delete your account.
Your rights
Under Article 11 of the KVKK you have the right to learn whether your data is processed, request information about it, learn the purpose of processing and who it is transferred to, have it corrected if incomplete or wrong, have it deleted and the recipients informed, object to an outcome against you produced solely by automated analysis, and claim compensation for damage from unlawful processing. Send your request to destek@esnafim.app. You can change what you follow and your notification preferences in the app at any time.
Terms of use
- Esnafım lets you follow the posts of shops in your neighbourhood. You can use it free of charge as a guest.
- Whoever adds a business confirms they are authorised to represent it and that their posts (prices, discounts, quantities, times) are accurate. The business is responsible for its posts and what it sells; Esnafım is not a party to any sale.
- Misleading, unlawful or offensive content, or content that infringes the rights of others, is not allowed. We may remove reported content and businesses, or any that break these terms.
- To keep notifications from being abused, a business can send at most 10 notifications a day, at most 2 of them discounts, and open at most 5 topics.
- The app is provided as is; we do not guarantee it will run without interruption. If these terms change, we update this page.
